Kai Moana

Today at Discovery Time we shared a couple of koura (crayfish). Some of the  students enjoyed it so much they spent almost an hour disecting the crays to find all the good bits!

Fun in Room 12!

We enjoyed some imaginative play today.  There are lots of creative ideas flowing in Room 12.

Discovery Time

We enjoyed our first Discovery Time for 2016 today. Nikau's mum Chihiro came and showed us how sheep's wool is spun into yarn. She then showed us how to felt wool and everyone got to have a go. A wonderful new experience for all of us.

Odd Shoe Day

Today the student council organised odd shoe day to raise funds for camp quality. Everyone wore odd shoes and some even wore odd socks too. Toby and Bevan came 2nd and 3rd in one of the competitions. Well done boys. Room 12 is proud of your efforts!

Swimming

After swimming daily for two weeks everyone has improved on what they could do at the beginning of lessons. We all had a great time. The highlight for most was jumping into the deep end of the wave pool wearing life jackets! We have written excellent stories about our experiences at swimming lessons so make sure you read them when you come in to school.

Epic Fossil Hunt

On Friday our year 2 syndicate walked up the Richmond hills.

We walked and walked until we got to the part where we could see the whole of Richmond.

After a good look at Richmond we set off again. Mrs Scott told us when we could start fossil hunting. I found 100’s of fossils and 10 pieces of iron stone. We searched for a long time and then we started walking down. Finally we reached the bottom of the hill.

We had lunch. After lunch we played on the playground, then we went back to school.

We washed our fossils then we watched a video about fossil hunting.

The fossil hunt was awesome because I found fossils and iron stone.
